* What is a DENIER?
A DENIER is the unit of measurement for the thickness of the yarn used to make hosiery and tights.
The lower the DENIER number (8, 10, 15, 20, etc.), the sheerer and more transparent the hosiery or tights. Conversely, the higher the number (40, 70, etc.), the thicker they are and the less skin is visible.
On the other hand, there are opaque microfiber hosiery and tights, in 50 and 100 denier, which barely allow the skin to show through. These are commonly worn in autumn-winter.
Hosiery and tights with a low DEN number are typically used for the spring-summer season. They can be worn the rest of the year, for example for ceremonies, as the sheerness of the hosiery makes them more elegant.
